The National Commission on Population and Development (CNPD) is the body responsible for the formulation of public policies and the implementation of integrated actions related to population and development. It has been coordinated by the Presidency of the Republic through the Secretariat of Strategic Affairs since December 2017 and is composed of several sectoral ministries, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), sectoral councils and academic sector organizations. Civil society participates through various instances and mechanisms, such as public policy councils and the National Conferences.
