Comments
This measure is closely related to priority measures 67, 71 and 72, with which it shares subject matter, and can be viewed as cutting across all sectors.
Possible lines of action
1. Adopt and apply specific national legislation on the rights of migrants, incorporating a gender perspective. 2. Create mechanisms for cross-sector coordination and follow-up to policies and programmes that affect migrants (within ministries of health, labour, education and social development, for example).
Related instruments, forums and mechanisms
Like priority measure 72, this measure is associated with all the other measures and their mechanisms. What distinguishes priority measure 73 is its emphasis on the gender perspective, which seeks to address the vulnerabilities of migrant women. This measure is thus related to target 8.8 of the Sustainable Development Goals (“Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environment for all workers, including migrant workers, particularly women migrants, and those in precarious employment”).
